Stephan Strassmann

Stephan Strassmann trained as an anaesthesiologist and intensivist at the university hospital Bonn, Germany. Being part of the ECMO team during the H1N1 pandemic in winter 2009/2010 sparked his interest in ECMO treatment.

As of November 2013 he holds a position as a consultant intensivist at the ARDS and ECMO Centre of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Department of Cologne-Mehrheit hospital. His special interests are long term ECMO support and ECCO2R. When he is not at his ICU job he is working as an intensive care retrieval specialist for a German helicopter air rescue service or playing with his three children.
