Dirk Vlasselaers

Dirk Vlasselaers (°1964) is professor of intensive care medicine at the University Hospitals in Leuven, Belgium. He is staff member at the department of intensive care medicine (currently 67 ICU beds), lead consultant of the pediatric ICU and responsible for the ECMO- and ventricular assist device program. His main interests are congenital heart disease and congenital heart surgery, cardio-thoracic ICU, ECMO and ventricular assist devices. Professor Vlasselaers is author and co-author of several publications in the field of critical care medicine regarding metabolic, endocrine and hemodynamic issues.
