Giles Peek

Giles Peek graduated from Kings College Hospital School of Medicine in 1990. He undertook a higher research degree submitting a thesis investigating the use of different  biomaterials during extracorporeal life support. He is an inaugural fellow of the faculty of critical care medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization. He was appointed Consultant in Leicester in 2004. In 2015 he became Professor & Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Co-Director of the pediatric heart center and ECMO Directorat Childrens’s Hospital of Montefiore in New York. Most of his research has focused on ECMO, he was PI of the CESAR trial. He has served on the ELSO steering committee since 1999, and as the inaugural chair of its first regional chapter, EuroELSO, from 2011-2014. He is married with three grown up children and two grand-children. In his spare time he enjoys ascending and descending mountains and cooking.
