Carl Davis is Consultant Paediatric & Neonatal Surgeon at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow since 1992. He graduated MB, BCH BAO (Hons) from University College Cork in 1980. He is the Barclay Lecturer in Glasgow University.
His main interests are Neonatal Surgery, especially the management of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, Trauma and Extracorporeal Life Support. He introduced ECLS to Scotland in 1992 and has been Director of the Scottish Paediatric Extracorporeal Life Support Service in Glasgow since that time. The service has been an ELSO Registered Centre from its initiation. Paediatric ECLS has been a National Service in Scotland since 2002.
He is Honorary Secretary of EuroELSO and was local Chairperson of the 5th EuroELSO Congress in Glasgow in 2016.
