Consultant in Paediatric cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care for 22 years at one of the two UK children's heart tranplant units. Research and writing on ECMO and ventricular assist devices in children, the evolution of these and the outcomes related to their use in heart failure. The Freeman Hospital was one of the original ECMO units in the UK and took part in the UK trial of neonatal ECMO in the 1990s. I am currently the honorary treasurer of  EUROELSO.
