Antonella Degani
Degani Antonella has been a perfusionist since 1985 at Policlinico San Matteo, Pavia Italy. Since 2006, she has been the chief perfusionist in the same hospital. She has been the coordinator and teacher at the University of Pavia for the Cardio-Vascular Perfusion Degree program since2011
She has extensive experience in extracorporeal technology she started the mininvasive cardiothoracic surgery and Left Ventricular Assistence device program (Thoratec, Jarvick and the HeartMate I-II) with Prof. Viganò. Since 1994 she has focused on ECMO and the use of new oxygenators during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. In 2006, she started the cardiac arrest program with cardiothoracic surgeons and anesthesiologists (Dr. Giorgio Iotti and Dr. Mirko Belliato ) and participated in clinical research projects on the development of extracorporeal lung and heart support. In 2008, she formally became involved in the ECMO project at the Foundation IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo with the development of the program for no heart beating donors. She is very interested in developing organ recovery programs after cardiac arrest.
