James Fortenberry
James D. Fortenberry MD, MCCM, FAAP is Professor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and is Pediatrician in Chief at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. He was previously Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care and was Medical Director of the PICU and Medical Director of Pediatric ECMO. He now serves as Chair of the ECMO Leadership Council at Children's. Dr. Fortenberry is immediate past chair of the Critical Care Subboard of the American Board of Pediatrics. He also has served for years with the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) and is currently the Immediate Past President of ELSO. Dr. Fortenberry has strong interests in pediatric ECMO, renal replacement and plasma exchange, sepsis and inflammation in sepsis and lung injury. He has published extensively in the field.
