Jörn Tongers
Dr. Jörn Tongers has completed clinical fellowships in internal medicine, cardiology, angiology, and intensive care medicine at Hannover Medical School. His clinical education has been further enriched by basic-science fellowships both nationally and overseas (Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute, Northwestern University, Chicago) working on ischemia, adaptive and regenerative mechanisms of ischemic tissue, ischemic tissue repair, and its clinical translation. His clinical focus is on acute cardiovascular care and intensive care medicine. Serving as an attending physician at Hannover Medical School, Department of Cardiology and Angiology, for many years, he has gained extensive expertise in interventional therapies. His daily work includes interventional cardiology, interventional angiology and structural heart. Dr. Tonger’s special interest is in acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, resuscitation, and mechanical circulatory support employing different devices or its targeted combination. He has been peer-reviewing for many international journals, scientific as well as medical institutions. Reflecting his vita, Dr. Tongers has also been named a fellow of the ESC.
