Gregor Walker

Gregor Walker is the Clinical Lead for the Scottish Diaphragmatic Hernia Clinical Network and has been a Consultant General Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon in the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow since 2007. During his surgical training, he completed a research fellowship affiliated with the Scottish Extracorporeal Life Support Service and the Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences in Glasgow University. He was awarded an MD from the University of Manchester for a thesis on his clinical and scientific research in the pathogenesis  of congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow treats 10-20 newborns with CDH each year. Mr Walker is closely involved with all aspects of the care of neonates and children with diaphragmatic hernia including counselling families in association with the Fetal Medicine Team, the medical and surgical neonatal management (including Extracorporeal Life Support) and the long-term follow-up in the multidisciplinary CDH clinic. He has recently been involved in a cross-specialty initiative to promote a standardised care pathway for the management of CDH nationally.
